Theme Font & Size Changer — Automatic Expiration Disabled

When I finally updated SeaMonkey (my preferred browser) from version 2.49.5 to 2.53.12, I discovered that Theme Font & Size was no longer compatible with SeaMonkey. I keep this page on my Web site because some users — such as I — prefer older versions of software. I am still using Thunderbird 52.9.1, which is compatible with Theme Font & Size.

I modified the Theme Font & Size Changer 53.0 extension on the addons.mozilla.org site to eliminate automatic expiration. The extension's developer claims that a GPL 3.0 license controls the rights to this extension; and I attempted to comply with the terms of that license, especially §5 ("Conveying Modified Source Versions"). Since the .xpi file is the only source with which I worked, I do not feel §6 ("Conveying Non-Source Forms") applies. In further compliance with GPL 3, I left Baris Derin as the developer of the extension but added my own name as a contributor.

Under the terms of the GPL 3.0 license, anyone else can take my version and further modify it. However, there are two requirements of the license that are mandatory:

• The source of any further development must continue to attribute prior development to all listed developers, including me.
• Any software based on the Theme Font & Size Changer found on this Web page must be distributed free to the end-users.

Under Windows 7, I successfully tested the modified version in SeaMonkey 2.46 and Thunderbird 52.0.1 to the extent of installing it and using it. It still works as I would hope with SeaMonkey 2.49.1 and Thunderbird 52.5.2. I make no warranty that it is error-free or that this extension works with Linux, on a MAC, or with any later version of Windows. It does work on my wife's Windows XP PC.

I have been informed that this extension — when installed in Thunderbird — conflicts with the Account Colors extension. I know nothing about Account Colors and really know little about the internal workings of Theme Font & Size Changer. Thus, I cannot do anything to resolve that conflict.

This is effectively an unsigned version and thus cannot be installed for Firefox. Thus, the "fx" has been removed from the .xpi file-name. When Mozilla finally mandates only WebExtensions to the exclusion of prior extensions, I have no plans to create a new WebExtension version. Actually, I have no plans at all to do any further development.

The UUID has been changed from f69e22c7-bc50-414a-9269-0f5c344cd94c to 6e5104b6-3c42-11e7-a919-92ebcb67fe33 to reflect that this differs from the version available from Mozilla's Add-ons site. Also, the URI for finding my version has been changed to reflect this Web page that you are currently viewing.

The modified version will be identified in the Addons Manager as Theme Font & Size Changer (no expire) 53.0.

• To install it in SeaMonkey, select the "Get It Here" link below.
• To download it, right-click on that link and select "Save Link Target As" from the pull-down context menu.
• I assume the user is familiar with how to install .xpi extensions in SeaMonkey and Thunderbird.

NOTE WELL:

• Because the name of the file and the name of the extension embedded within the file have been changed, it is necessary to delete any prior version of this extension — versions from either Mozilla's Add-ons site or from this Web page — before installing the current version from this Web page.
• When using the Add-ons Manager to check for updated extensions, any updates of the unfixed Theme Font & Size Changer might appear as available. DO NOT UPDATE unless the term "noexp" appears in the file name! Updating from a file that lacks "noexp" will result in installing a version that automatically expires.
• Disable automatic updates of this extension.
  1. Launch the Add-ons Manager.
  2. Scroll down to Theme Font & Size Changer.
  3. Select the "more" link.
  4. Select the "Off" radio button for "Automatic Updates".
